I BURNED OUT

We are taught to glorify work. Keep working they say, on yourself, business, art not forgetting the part where smart is added. “Work smart”!!! I’m not against working, don’t get me wrong beloved, I enjoy working, get me into any project, and see me work my ass off haha.

Working, for me simply means meeting those crazy deadlines, studying, having an action plan towards achieving those goals, constantly hitting the road to get those clients, list is endless try adding all your definitions of work. Interesting right?

The rewards are nice after all, by the way, I must admit but can we talk about the pressure, stress, lonely days and nights, the BURNOUTS!! Imagine how the older guys with more responsibilities feel, that’s how serious this is.

Burnouts occur when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and failing to meet constant demands, when this prolongs one begins to lose the interest and motivation to take up things you signed up for. This in turn leads to meaningless productivity, hopelessness, and being doubtful with your abilities, detachment, loss of motivation, decreased sense of accomplishment, and withdrawal from responsibilities.

Most parts of my quarter one consisted of too much work, remember the meaningless productivity I mentioned?? I had days I experienced such since I had this notion of having to be productive, all day, every day.

“All work without play makes Jack a dull boy”.Amid all the hustles of life, do you pause and rest? make time for your loved ones? Generally, do you set some time outside work without guilt-tripping yourself about it?

How does one deal with such predicaments?

-Try taking a complete break from everything and use that time to recharge your batteries.
