Rawness and Acceptance

When I tell you the theme for me this year has been accountability and taking stock of everything around me internally and externally.

When I tell you there are days I promise to be a good person , act right and yet I fail to be that, you won’t believe that😂.

There are days have promised to be a patient friend, sister, daughter; Patience for me is being less rational, judgemental and being more understanding and mature when handling things.

Some days it works but other days my goodness😆 ( I can explain). I’m imperfect in every way and that is okay ,we all are.

So recently an article circulated on Twitter by the famous Chimamanda Adichie; this lady writes I tell you .I loved how she articulately called out people who tarnished her name in public and yet kissed her ass in private.

She wrote it so well without painting a bad image, it was effortlessly done with so much grace😂.We are used to guys throwing tantrums at each other on social media, but this lady here didn’t do that. We should all strive to be her.

It’s funny how we are ever sharing memes, quotes and maybe articles that point out on our oppresors. You’d bump on a relatable post and the first thing we think of is “so and so did this to me.”

But how about we change the outlook of that and view ourselves as the villains sometimes. You could be the fake friend in someone else’s story, the toxic partner in your relationship, the rude colleague at your work place but the negative victim mentality won’t allow you to hold yourself accountable when your bad traits are called out.

In most cases we have traumatized people around us, we’ve hurt them in one way or the other but end up justifying the acts. How about we hold ourselves accountable and become the bigger people we expect other people to be. It’s hard to accept that we are flawed as the people around us; What you see is what you get😊

Today is a good day to be real and be better people but first let us accept that we are flawed and learn to hold ourselves accountable.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
